Milestone for Mehler Systems: Mehler Protection handed over the 200,000th MOBAST protective vest system to the German Armed Forces before the end of the year. German Armed Forces Bekleidungsmanagement GmbH (BwBM). The handover took place in the presence of numerous high-ranking representatives – such as Colonel Marko Dietzmann, the project manager for clothing and personal equipment and head of department at the BAAINBw and the new CEO of the Mehler Systems Group, Mario Amschlinger.
He explained: “The delivery of the 200,000th MOBAST protective vest system is a significant milestone.” The MOBAST program is set to equip the Bundeswehr with the remaining protective vest systems by the end of this year. https://militaeraktuell.at/waechter-kueste-geschichte-adolfkanonen/
MOBAST: Protection and modularity combined
The MOBAST system (modular ballistic protection and carrying equipment) combines both soft and hard ballistic protection elements and covers central body zones such as shoulders, neck, upper arms, abdomen and thighs. The modular design of the system allows it to be quickly adapted to different threat scenarios – from protection against stabbing and short-barreled weapons and fragments to protection against long-range weapon fire. A plant was set up in Fulda to manufacture the vests. Deliveries began as planned in December 2022 with an initial volume of 4,000 units per month. After just a short time, this volume was significantly increased, meaning that 100,000 protective vests had already been delivered after just over a year. With the delivery of the 200,000th system, the project is still on schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. “At a time characterized by global uncertainties and geopolitical challenges, we have succeeded in building a robust and reliable supply chain,” concluded Amschlinger.
