MBDA Italy
presented its new Harpax family of loitering ammunition for multi-domain operations for the first time at the “Seafuture 2025” maritime defense trade fair.
Harpax was developed in collaboration with Italian SMEs for the needs of the

developed. The first two variants, Mini and Small, were already presented at the “Volpe Bianca 2025” exercise in March 2025 in the Puster Valley.

Harpax Mini is a small quadcopter, ideal for use in urban environments. With a take-off weight of around 2.5 kilograms, the system achieves an endurance of 20 minutes and a range of 5 kilometers. The quadcopter carries a 500-gram fragmentation warhead with a directed charge from

. The mission profile envisages use against infantry standing in the open or unprotected or lightly protected vehicles. Harpax Mini is the result of a collaboration between MBDA Italia and Siralab.
The Harpax Small is a fixed-wing loitering drone. The drone, which is around one meter long, has a take-off weight of 8 kilograms. It reaches speeds of up to 200 km/h and can cover distances of around 15 to 20 kilometers in 25 to 40 minutes. The modular design allows different payloads depending on the mission profile. In addition to a 1.5-kilogram warhead, the drone can also be used for electronic warfare, logistics transport and reconnaissance. Typical for container-based systems, the wings and propellers of the Harpax Small are folded out after take-off. MBDA Italia collaborated with the SME Skyeye System on the development of the Harpax Small.

The Harpax weapon system enables communication and coordination between up to four drones simultaneously.
