The Chief of Staff in the Ministry of Defense, Major General Rudolf Striedinger, provided information on 24 November about the Austrian Armed Forces’ experiences with mass Covid tests to date. In Slovakia, the army had supported the tests, while in South Tyrol the measures were observed by army experts.
Based on the experiences in Slovakia and South Tyrol, the Austrian Armed Forces are relying on digital support for the upcoming mass tests in Austria: everything from registration and booking appointments to the results will be handled by a single program. The aim will be to prevent large gatherings of people around the tests, according to Major General Striedinger. A first series of tests is planned for teachers. In Slovakia, more than 3.6 million of a total of 5.5 million inhabitants were tested in the first round. A total of 40,000 people were deployed, including soldiers from the Austrian Armed Forces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWZKkpm3C_4&feature=emb_title
