Michael Humbek, Managing Director of Dynamit Nobel Defense (DND)together with representatives of the Latvian Ministry of Defense and the National Center for Defense Logistics, recently signed a contract for the delivery of the Skorpion 2 Mine Throwing System to the Latvian Armed Forces. “The purchase of the mine-laying system is a strategic step towards strengthening our country’s defense capabilities. It is an essential part of a broader plan to secure Latvia’s eastern border. This investment ensures that Latvia is ready to defend its territory and population against any kind of threat,” emphasized Defense Minister Andris Sprūds.

The agreement covers the delivery of the Skorpion 2 system, the associated AT2+ anti-tank mines, other system-related equipment and the training of operating personnel.

The contract underlines Latvia’s efforts to “actively involve domestic industry and thus strengthen security of supply and promote regional value creation”, according to a recent press release. At the same time, the cooperation opens up the possibility of other countries joining the project and concluding their own supply contracts with Dynamit Nobel Defence.
