The government of Kosovo has signed a contract with the Turkish state-owned company “Machinery and Chemical Industry” (Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi – MKE). Under the agreement, MKE will build a factory in Kosovo specializing in the production of ammunition.
Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti sees the investment as a good opportunity, according to a report by Kossev a great opportunity to “establish Kosovo’s own defense industry”. Kurti continued: “MKE is taking responsibility for the commissioning of the ammunition factory, which will produce ammunition of various calibers in accordance with NATO standards.”

The contract not only includes the delivery of the production machines, but also the training of personnel, maintenance for a specified period and the provision of quality testing and calibration systems. “After the start of production, the factory will operate as a listed company and represent a 100% domestic brand,” the agreement states.
