The Spanish government has announced that it has ordered additional NASAMS air defense systems from Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace worth around 410 million euros. The existing systems are to be modernized.
On 19 April, the Spanish Armaments Directorate, Dirección General de Armamento y Material (DGAM), submitted a declaration of award for the NASAMS modernization programme. The contract is expected to be signed in May. https://militaeraktuell.at/markus-barner-geschaeftsfuehrer-von-kaercher-futuretech/ NASAMS is one of the world’s leading medium-range air defense systems, offered jointly by Kongsberg and Raytheon. Spain was the first international NASAMS user more than 20 years ago. Currently, Spanish NASAMS units are deployed as part of the NATO air defense mission in the Baltic States.
