The soldiers of the 49th Austrian KFOR contingent have been training in the area of operations in Kosovo over the past few days. Various scenarios were practiced and a distinction was also achieved during shooting exercises.
“Crowd and riot control exercise
KFOR soldiers from four nations practiced law and order operations at Camp Novo Selo. The Austrian infantry company was deployed as a “Crowd and Riot Control” company. “Crowd and riot control refers to the deployment of forces to control crowds in the event of riots. A road blockade and riots in the area of this blockade were defined as the exercise scenario. Thanks to the cooperation of the forces on site, the aggressors were separated and the crowd was dispersed. The roadblock was assessed as safe by explosives specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit and cleared from the road by engineer forces using a loading crane.

KFOR soldiers from the “D-A-CH” cooperation (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) were also given the opportunity to receive the German “Schützenschnur” award. Organized by soldiers of the German Armed ForcesAfter a briefing on the P8 pistol and the G36 rifle, the participants completed the shooting at Camp Bondsteel. The requirements included target distances in the short to medium range, and the time limit during the sniping exercises also played an important role. Depending on the number of points achieved, the shooters received the award for special shooting performance in gold, silver or bronze.
