A few weeks ago the richly illustrated reference book “Combat Pistol” was published by K-ISOM magazine in the S.Ka. publishing house. In it, SOF instructor Hermann Rosenberg describes techniques, tips and tactics for combat shooters.

“For the soldier, the pistol is usually just a back-up weapon. For most police officers, it is the primary operational weapon. In a deadly threat, it doesn’t matter if you’re a soldier or a police officer. You have to do everything right to survive. Or get lucky.” With these five sentences, Hermann Rosenberg introduces his new book “Combat Pistol”, published by K-ISOM Magazine (Kommando – Internaitonal Special Operations Magazine), and then describes on a total of 224 fully illustrated pages how marksmen can best behave and proceed in a wide variety of scenarios. The techniques and tactics described make it easier for beginners to get started, but are also a good review and broadening of horizons for experienced marksmen. Hermann Rosenberg covers equipment as well as basic safety rules, correct weapon handling, jumping from cover to cover, fighting with and around vehicles and many other different scenarios and possible uses.
The tactics are always well described and explained with pictures and – very importantly – Hermann Rosenberg does not skimp on the details in his explanations, which together distinguish a good marksman from a very good marksman. Or as the author puts it: “In action, it is important that we are sufficiently fast and precise.” Postscript: “This involves much more than just hitting a target.”
