On Thursday evening, the Jägerbataillon Wien 1 “Hoch- und Deutschmeister” invited guests to the traditional “Deutschmeister-BBQ” in the garrison canteen of the Maria Theresien barracks in Vienna. And over 130 guests, including guests of honor from business, politics and society, came to celebrate to the sounds of a combo of guard music and a sumptuous barbecue and dessert buffet.
The highlight of the summer festival was the presentation of the “Cross of Honor 1st Class in Gold” of the Hoch- und Deutschmeister to the Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Günter Bruno Hofbauer for his services to the interests and strengthening of the militia, in particular in all plans for the “Aufbauplan 2032+”, as well as to the Vienna military commander Brigadier Kurt Wagner. Both honorees were recognized as avowed supporters of the interests of the militia, for which the Hoch- und Deutschmeister thanked them with the second highest award of the Hoch- und Deutschmeister according to protocol.
The Jägerbataillon Wien 1 “Hoch- und Deutschmeister” is one of the two militia battalions of the federal capital of Vienna, each with a strength of 800 men. The Jägerbataillon Wien 1 emerged from the two Jägerbataillons 4 and 6 of the former Jägerregiment Wien. It thus continues the tradition of the Viennese house regiment of the “Hoch- und Deutschmeister”. This tradition can be traced back to the founding of the first Deutschmeister regiment in 1696.
