Iran continues to press ahead with the development of unmanned attack drones. The latest success is the Rezvan system presented by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency, while another new model, Raad, is already in the starting blocks.
According to the report, the Rezvan drone (pictured above) is delivered from the factory in a transport and launch container. It is equipped with X-shaped wings that unfold automatically during take-off. There is a sensor ball on the nose and, according to the message, a camera transmits images to the control console after take-off. This allows the operator to select and attack targets. A displayed data link antenna on a tripod indicates radio command control. The range is 20 kilometers, the flight time about 20 minutes.
The concept is comparable to the Russian product 53 from Zala or the family of Israeli Hero-30\90\120 drones from UVision. The advantage of the system is said to be its “simple and rapid deployment”, which should give rapid reaction forces new options, particularly in rough mountainous terrain. Iran plans to deliver 1,000 units to the troops in the near future.

As part of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) exercise “Great Prophet 19” (Payambar-e Azam 19), which has just come to an end, another attack drone called Raad was also shown. Also equipped with X-shaped wings, this drone was also shown in flight. It has an X-shaped tail unit and a thrust propeller and is very similar to the Russian Lancet. Compared to Rezvan, Raad is a simpler design, does not take off from a container and only has rigid wings.
