The Styrian lightweight component specialist Hintsteiner Defence presented its Hi2Protect add-on protection, developed in collaboration with Liebherr, at the “Industry Day” of the Military Engineering Center of Excellence in Ingolstadt.
A telescopic handler from Liebherr was equipped with the conversion kit for demonstration purposes. According to the company, the new protection system can be easily adapted to standard machines without any major modifications to the chassis or braking system, meaning that it can be used flexibly on all vehicles of the same type within a fleet and fitted as required.
Company boss Martin Hintsteiner has high hopes for the new product: “The advantages are obvious,” says Hintsteiner in an interview with Militär Aktuell. “There is no longer any need for cost-intensive conversion of a standardized vehicle, the protection system is only used when required and is fitted and removed directly on site.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQfG2IE-U4A Hintsteiner continues: “This naturally keeps the financial outlay within limits and the possible applications are also very wide and range from crisis areas to all blue light organizations in which the vehicle operator may be exposed to a threat.”
