On 6. and 7. September the Austrian Armed Forces together with its partners, the Province of Styria and Red Bull, organized the “Airpower 2024” (-> Positive conclusion: 250,000 visitors in Zeltweg) and, as a recent IFDD survey shows, the event was very well received in Austria and especially in the region.
“More than 250,000 visitors to the event site and tens of thousands more aviation enthusiasts at the Hinterstoisser airbase, over ten million euros in added value for the region, a significant increase in overnight stays and a media advertising value of over four million euros in national media alone are the first impressive figures for the Airpower weekend in Zeltweg at the beginning of September. And also very important for us: We award all supplier, catering and beverage contracts for an Airpower event 100 percent in the region,” says Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.
Region stands by “Airpower”
As a recent survey by the Institute for Public Opinion Research and Data Analysis (IFDD) shows, the event was also well received in the region and throughout Austria. According to the survey, 98% of respondents locally are in favor of “Airpower” (for 75% the event is “very important” and for a further 23% “rather important”), while the figure for Austria as a whole is an impressive 79% (56% “very important” and 23% “rather important”).
The survey results for Hinterstoisser Air Base as a location and important employer in the Murtal region are also impressive: 87% of respondents across Austria rate the importance of Hinterstoisser Air Base as “very important” (57%) or “fairly important” (30%) for the region and Upper Styria, while in the region the figure is a remarkable 94%, of which 69% rate it as “very important”.
“I am very pleased about these great approval ratings, both throughout Austria and above all in the Murtal region itself. The clear approval for the ‘Airpower’ events, but also for Hinterstoisser Air Base as a location and important employer, is impressive proof of the excellent partnership between the Austrian Armed Forces and the province of Styria and the positive anchoring of our Armed Forces in the Murtal region in particular,” concluded Tanner.
