Hensoldt recorded an order intake of more than 1.4 billion euros between October 2024 and January 2025. All business units contributed to this – including orders for the Eurofighter Mk1 radar, the optronic systems for the Leopard 2A8 and the modernization of the Bundeswehr’s Electronic Combat Center (ZEK). According to a company press release, a key growth driver is the extension of the ECRS Mk1 project (Eurofighter Common Radar System Mark 1) with a volume of around 350 million euros. “This contract extension ensures the development of a certifiable, robust Eurofighter Mk1 radar for Germany and Spain”.
Another major order concerns optronic and optical systems for a total of 123 Leopard 2A8 main battle tanks with a total value of over 68 million euros. “These state-of-the-art optronic solutions will enable the armed forces of Germany and Norway to successfully assert themselves on the dynamic battlefield of the future,” says Hensoldt. In addition, the modernization of the sensor system of the Fennek armoured reconnaissance vehicle contributes almost 56 million euros to the order backlog. The order comprises 92 sets of the BAA III observation and reconnaissance system, which sets new standards in military reconnaissance.
Together with Airbus Hensoldt will also comprehensively modernize the Bundeswehr’s Electronic Combat Center (ZEK). The IT-SEKUS ZEK program will equip the air force with state-of-the-art software and hardware technology over the next four years in order to “ensure the long-term operational readiness of flying weapon systems and take a decisive step towards Software Defined Defence (SDD)”, according to the press release. The project has an order volume of 38 million euros.
“As is usual in the defense industry, we received a large number of orders at the turn of the year. Now it’s time to deliver – and we are responding by expanding capacity and increasing efficiency. We are right on track,” explains Christian Ladurner, CFO of Hensoldt. “The high order intake also underlines the central importance of sensor solutions and electronic systems for effective defense. We continue to see great growth potential here,” Ladurner continues.
