After the first Brazilian Gripen E, known as the F-39 Gripen by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), completed its first flight in Brazil on September 24 (Militär Aktuell reported), the fighter jet has now been officially unveiled at a ceremony to mark “Brazilian Air Force Day”.
“It is a great honor to see the Gripen E here at the ceremony. I don’t think there is a more appropriate occasion for this presentation,” said Micael Johansson, CEO and President of
Brazil has ordered a total of 36 Gripen E/F from Saab, which are to be handed over to the Brazilian Air Force from the end of 2021. Before series production starts in Brazil Tests of the flight control systems and environmental control systems as well as tests under tropical climate conditions will take place. The weapon systems specially integrated for the Brazilian Air Force and the Link BR2 communication system will also be tested.
