At the beginning of the year, the British Ministry of Defense announced an order for 500 HX 8×8 support vehicles for Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) – now the first 20 trucks have been handed over to the troops.

“We delivered the first 20 vehicles to the army just in time for Christmas,” says Defense Equipment and Support, the part of the ministry responsible for procurement.

The multi-purpose trucks ordered by the British will be equipped with a Palletized Load System (PLS; hook loading system) and will primarily be used for logistics tasks away from the front line and “enable personnel to load flat racks onto the platform in order to transport important logistics goods such as ammunition, food, water and relief supplies to the deployment locations”, according to a press release. The contract is worth just under 330 million euros (282 million pounds).
