GM Defense Canada, a subsidiary of GM Defense, has been awarded a €23.8 million contract by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) for 90 Light Tactical Vehicles (LTV) – with an option to purchase up to 18 more LTVs. GM Defense Canada will also provide training, technical manuals and additional vehicle content. The first vehicles are to be delivered just five weeks after the contract is signed.

Under the contract, GM Defense Canada will supply both nine-person LTVs and a new commercial vehicle variant of the LTV, which is currently also used by the US Army Army. The LTVs will be used by NATO Enhanced Forward Presence Multinational Battlegroup in Latvia and will enable soldiers to move faster, safer and with greater range. https://militaeraktuell.at/schlacht-la-souffel-frankreichs-letzter-sieg/ “We are providing this critical capability to the Canadian Armed Forces within a timeframe that meets their urgent operational requirements,” said Steve duMont, President of GM Defense, about the short delivery times. “We see this order as the beginning of a long strategic partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces to improve the tactical mobility of soldiers today and in the future.” The President and CEO of GM Canada, Kristian Aquilina, expressed similar sentiments: “General Motors’ support of the Canadian Armed Forces with this contract is an excellent example of the significant contribution GM is making in Canada.”

Weighing only about 2,230 kilograms, the lightweight and maneuverable tactical vehicles are air-transportable and easy to maintain and service thanks to the COTS parts. The lightweight tactical vehicles are easy to operate and have active and passive safety features that meet CAF performance and safety requirements.
