After 20 years of the G22, the German Bundeswehr is now introducing its combat-grade successor, the G22A2, to the troops.
The main new features of the G22A2 are the more powerful optical sight compared to its predecessor and a muzzle brake that reduces the recoil of the rifle by half and thus increases the accuracy of the shooter. The telescopic sight can now also be supplemented with the night sight attachment (NSV 80) to improve night combat capability, the trigger pull weight of the weapon is significantly lower and the accuracy is higher due to the easier handling. Various customization options are also new with the G22A2: For example, the cheek pad on the shoulder rest can now be moved not only in height but also sideways and the bipod is infinitely height-adjustable. In addition, an illuminated spirit level on the scope now indicates if the rifle is tilted. The extensive accessory package includes a silencer, a red dot sight and a ballistic calculator with a built-in weather meter. This can be used to determine the latitude, temperature and wind. After entering the weapon and ammunition parameters, the ballistics calculator determines an exact forecast of the trajectory of the projectile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAAuA-czjBY
