After years of austerity, the budget of the French armed forces is set to grow again in the coming years. In order to achieve NATO’s two percent target, the current budget of 34.2 billion euros is to grow by 1.7 billion euros per year from 2019 to 2022. After that, an increase of three billion euros per year is planned until 2025. In total, expenditure of 295 billion euros is therefore planned for the period from 2019 to 2025. Among other things, the money is to flow into new personnel for cyber defense and reconnaissance.
