In Traiskirchen, around 20 kilometers south of Vienna, a new shooting range, a gun store and an event venue are being built all in one. Ranger Magazine (made by Militär Aktuell) was there exclusively before the opening of the Focus Range.
The Focus Range team is motivated. The bullet trap and filter system are cleaned in full-body protective suits and protective masks. Shooting was still taking place here, on the shooting lanes of the former Taro shooting range and store, as recently as the fall of 2024. Then, in winter, the company came to an abrupt end. Hardly anyone expected a new start, but a well-coordinated team made the bold decision to relaunch the Focus Range at the same location but with a breath of fresh air. What still fits into the concept is taken over from the old shooting range. Everything else will be removed.
New heads, new concept
The team is made up of members from all disciplines: From precision shooters to IPSC and defense shooters to hunters. The “focus” is therefore on the entire spectrum of shooting sports, as the management on site tells us. The aim is to make shooting sports more accessible and build bridges within the community, we learn in conversation with the Focus team.
Store, seminar and event venue
As in the previous store, 350 square meters are available on the upper floor for the gun store. However, the range will probably be supplemented by equipment for the outdoor sector. Social interaction will also play a role in the Focus Range. The lounge will be open to everyone and seminars for reloaders have already been announced. The Focus Range will even offer space for book presentations and other events.
Shooting experience
The current 50-meter hall is to undergo a breakthrough in the course of the year – in the truest sense of the word. It will be possible to shoot from six lanes at a full 100 meters, with two lanes – as a special feature – also available for prone shooting.
Next to it is the “Shoot House” with barricades and cars for dynamic courses. The integration of fitness training is also being considered. Strength and endurance units could be implemented into the shooting training here, according to the management during discussions. Furnished rooms for scenario training are also available. Finally, one hall further on, nine short and long rifle ranges with draw systems await static shooters.
There are no caliber restrictions in any of the halls. There is also a conscious decision to offer authorities a training opportunity. The partial opening of the store and the shooting ranges took place on April 5, 2025. The full launch and grand opening has been announced for April 25. Ranger Magazine will stay tuned for you.
