Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner appointed Lieutenant Colonel Jasmine Krutzler as commander of Supply Regiment 1, making her the first woman to hold such a position in the Austrian Armed Forces.
“I am extremely pleased to be able to appoint Lieutenant Colonel Krutzler as the first female regiment commander. She has already proven her leadership qualities at home and abroad and is now taking over a regiment that has made an indispensable contribution in many logistical areas during the Covid-19 pandemic. I wish her the best of luck in her new role,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner during the handover of command responsibility at the Hackher barracks in Gratkorn. The main tasks of the supply regiment are logistics and supplying soldiers deployed at home and abroad. During the Covid-19crisis, the approximately 220 professional soldiers provided support in companies, the mail distribution center, mass testing and contact tracing, among other things. During this time, the regiment was led by Major Oliver Jäger-Sunstenau, who has now handed it over to Lieutenant Colonel Jasmine Krutzler. “Supply Regiment 1 is the largest logistics service provider in the Austrian Armed Forces. It is an honor for me to lead the regiment and its soldiers and to shape their future in a positive way,” said the new regiment commander Jasmine Krutzler.
Lieutenant Colonel Jasmine Krutzler was born in Graz in 1975, grew up near Gleisdorf and currently lives in southern Lower Austria. After graduating from high school, she attended the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt from 1997 to 2000. There she enlisted in the armored infantry as a combat soldier. After several assignments as a company commander, Krutzler was deployed as a staff officer in various functions from 2011 to 2018. From 2018 to 2020, she was Principal Lecturer for Tactics, Supply and Staff Service at the Military Academy. Krutzler completed several deployments abroad, including in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
