General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) conducted the first flight of the XQ-67A Off-Board Sensing Station (OBSS) a few days ago. OBSS is a program funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), GA-ASI was awarded the contract to develop and build the system in 2021. The project is part of the AFRL’s Low-Cost Attritable Aircraft Platform Sharing (LCAAPS) program.

As part of LCAAPS, AFRL and GA-ASI explored the development of a basic system architecture from which multiple variants of sensor carriers can then be built. https://militaeraktuell.at/anteil-der-soldatinnen-beim-bundesheer-steigt/ “This provides an alternative acquisition approach for military systems that allows for faster development, lower costs and more opportunities for frequent technology refresh,” said Trenton White, OBSS program manager and aerospace engineer in AFRL’s Aerospace Systems Division.
