The Society for National Defence and Security Policy in Salzburg and the Salzburg Education Directorate organized a lecture and discussion event to provide information on the topics of threats and extremism and to shed light on their social relevance.

The event kicked off with a presentation by Major General Peter Vorhofer, advisor to the federal government for crisis prevention, national security and resilience. He highlighted the current threat scenarios for Austria and analyzed possible challenges. This was followed by a panel discussion in which Major General Vorhofer spoke with Salzburg’s military commander, Brigadier Peter Schinnerl, Deputy Director of Education Anton Lettner and Thomas Hauer, Director of HAK Zell am See, about the importance of security and resilience in education and society.

Another focus was on the topic of extremism in Austria. Sylvia Mayer, Deputy Director and Head of the Intelligence Service of the Directorate of State Security and Intelligence, gave an in-depth overview of current developments and preventative measures.
