On the fifth day of the international exercise “European Mountain Thunder 2022” the Czech-Montenegrin company had the task of marching in a secured march towards the 2,386-metre-high Torjoch to set up their winter bivouac there.

On the way to the bivouac site, the Czech platoon at the front came under fire from snipers of the 6th Mountain Brigade. After a firefight lasting about an hour, the march was continued and the bivouac was set up for the night as planned, with constant security. After setting up the sleeping and alarm positions, an international platoon from the company was sent on the march to the Torseen lakes at 2,258 meters above sea level for reconnaissance and reconnaissance. At dusk, a Montenegrin reconnaissance unit from the bivouac observed an enemy group on the ascent, but was unable to engage it because it was too far away.

Observe and recognize the opponent’s movement.

At 11 p.m. the bivouac was attacked by the previously observed group of Austrian mountain troops. Based on the observations, this attack was quickly repulsed by tactically well-chosen positions. The rest of the night was free of enemy fire, but rainy in places. In the early hours of the morning, the international company was greeted by the morning sun and accompanied them on their descent to the Lizum high camp at 1,995 meters above sea level.
