The Estonian Centre for Defence Investments (ECDI) and Sako, a Finnish weapons manufacturer, have announced that a contract has been signed for the procurement and delivery of new sniper rifles. The Estonian Armed Forces have been using Steiner riflescopes for several years and have now chosen the M5Xi 5-25×56. With this choice, Estonia follows other NATO countries such as France and Germany. The contract has a term of seven years.
The contract includes the delivery of the Sako TRG M10 sniper rifle with .338 ammunition, the aforementioned M5Xi 5-25×56 precision riflescope with MSR-2 reticle, as well as a signature reducer and thermal imaging attachment. This complete package was able to prevail against four other systems during the test phase. According to Major Risto Pärtel, Chief Armorer of the Estonian Armed Forces, the focus during the tests was on high-quality components such as the target optics, but of course also on high precision and robustness. The M5Xi 5-25×56 was able to impress. https://militaeraktuell.at/weitere-panzertransporter-fuer-die-polnische-armee/ “We are convinced that our M5Xi 5-25×56 riflescope offers the Estonian Defense Forces and the Defence League the necessary precision and reliability to work professionally in all situations,” says Christoph Weigler, Vice President of Steiner Optik GmbH. Last year, as part of a joint development project, the Finnish army opted for a similar package with the M7Xi 2.9-20×50 riflescope from Steiner and the M23 from Sako as the rifle system.
