The Netherlands supports Ukraine in the fight against Russia with the purchase of four Vera-NG passive radar systems from Czech manufacturer ERA. According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, the new systems will be handed over directly to Kiev.

Unlike conventional radars with their emitting antennas, the systems, which cost 150 million euros as a package, do not emit any electromagnetic energy and are therefore difficult for an opponent to detect and combat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3MbaaGSc_s&t=48s Thanks to TDOA (Time Difference Of Arrival) multilateration, ADS-B (Automated Depend Surveillance Broadcast) and PCL (Passive Coherent Location), Vera-NG, which went into series production in 2010, works with wave-electronic emissions that are emitted by all aircraft. These can be IFF interrogations, but also V/UHF radio, tactical data links, radio navigation, activated or emitting jammers. And these also come from air targets that are difficult to locate by radar, i.e. stealth, due to their design. The system detects them, can localize them and even identify them if necessary. And it does so without the sensors emitting anything, having moving parts or emitting heat. Vera-NG can be used on its own, but also as a complement to air surveillance radars.
