In mid-September, pioneer troops from the
German Armed Forces
and the
Dutch
and
Lithuanian armed forces
trench construction as part of the “Engineer Thunder 2025” exercise in Lithuania. The exercise was led by the Lithuanian Corps of Engineers.

The rough excavation work for the trenches was carried out by machines. The pioneers from the three nations then worked together to fortify the corridor with wooden structures. This expertise is intended to help protect the maneuver units during the battle.

In addition, the Dutch army is currently providing around 250 soldiers for the forward presence of NATO in Lithuania. The focus of this multinational battle group Lithuania is on deterring Russia. The aim is to prevent the country from taking aggressive action. Another main objective is to reassure the Lithuanian population through the presence of the troops.
