Austria has opted for the C-390M from the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer to replace its ageing Hercules transport aircraft. According to Chief of Armaments Major General Harald Vodosek, one of the decisive factors for the type decision was that the Brazilian aircraft also has a Pandur Evolution together with its weapon station or a Black Hawk helicopter in order to be able to air transport them to international theaters of operation if necessary.
Anyone who can’t believe that a Black Hawk fits into an air transporter should watch this video from Brazil. Admittedly: There’s not much space left, right and above – but in the end, the helicopter fits quite well in the C-390M. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REbamZwu0SM
