Embraer has delivered the second C-390M transport aircraft at the Kecskemét Air Force Base to the Hungarian Air Force Air Force. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Defense Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky as well as high-ranking military representatives and Embraer executives. With the handover, Hungary is now the first C-390M customer to have all the aircraft ordered.
The first Hungarian C-390M has been in service since the end of 2024 and since then has had an operational availability of over 99 percent, as stated in a recent Embraer press release With the entry into service of the second aircraft, Hungary is completing the modernization of its strategic and tactical airlift – a capability area that had previously been lacking in the Hungarian Air Force.

“This is an extremely gratifying and significant moment for the Hungarian Air Force. This capability will make our country stronger and more resilient,” emphasized Defense Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky. “I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this result.”
Embraer also sees the delivery as an important milestone. “The second C-390M will further expand Hungary’s operational capabilities – with superior performance, high flexibility and lower life cycle costs,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. The company is looking forward to deepening its cooperation and supporting Hungary in the long term.

Hungary’s C-390M fleet is designed for a wide range of missions – from humanitarian aid, medevac and search and rescue to aerial refueling, precision airdrops, troop and material transport. As the world’s first C-390M operator, the Hungarians also have a modular roll-on/roll-off intensive care unit that enables it to be used as a flying ICU.
