At the beginning of September, Michael Humbek, Managing Director of Dynamit Nobel Defence GmbH (DND), inaugurated the new “casting center” on the DND company premises in front of invited guests from local politics, industry, the trade press and the German Armed Forces.

After a planning, project and construction phase lasting several years, the company was thus able to put a new, state-of-the-art production complex into operation, which will enable the shoulder-fired weapons division to produce charges for special warheads in significantly larger quantities than before, according to a recent press release. Newer variants of the RGW family, in particular the RGW90 ASM or the RGW90 LRMP, require their explosives to be processed in casting processes instead of the pressing processes that have been used for other variants for many decades. The foundation stone for this project was laid during the coronavirus pandemic. “Only a few years later, the courage to commit to the location is paying off at a time when demand for shoulder weapons is high,” the press release continues. “DND is thus expanding its industrial capacity, thus ensuring that our armed forces and allied forces are equipped in line with their orders.”
