Diehl Defense and Elbit Systems have signed a teaming agreement for GATR (Guided Advanced Tactical Rocket). Euro-GATR is a 70-millimeter guided missile designed for the light combat helicopter (LKH) of the German Armed Forces helicopter. Diehl Defence is acting as general contractor for Euro-GATR in Germany.

According to a recent press release, the guided missile achieves a high level of accuracy at a range of up to 10 kilometers. Thanks to laser guidance with “Lock On After Launch” and “Lock On Before Launch” capabilities, Euro-GATR is also “fast, versatile and safe”.

With its multi-purpose warhead, the weapon is intended for use against buildings and lightly armored vehicles. According to Diehl, integration into the helicopter could take place with the help of a specially designed Smart Rocket Launcher (SRL) or with already certified launchers and minor adaptations.

As general contractor for Euro-GATR in Germany, Diehl Defence aims to “ensure both industrial value creation and the development of expertise, as well as the long-term maintenance and logistics of Euro-GATR in Germany”, according to the press release.

The two companies are already working together in other areas, such as rocket artillery (Euro Puls).
