As part of a 5-billion-euro military aid package for Ukraine, a contract has now been signed for the manufacture of Iris-T air defense systems from Diehl Defense and the associated missiles with a total value of 2.2 billion euros.
In total, the Ukraine is to pay for its defensive campaign against Russia (-> Current news from the war in Ukraine) has already received six Iris-T SLM batteries, twelve Iris-T SLS launchers and over 650 missiles. They form a cornerstone of the Ukrainian air defense system. A further four Iris-T SLM batteries and six Iris-T SLS launchers are to be delivered in the course of 2025. The delivery of six Iris-T SLM batteries and 14 Iris-T SLS launchers is currently planned for the following years.

Furthermore, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has signed a letter of intent with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov, according to which Germany will finance the purchase of long-range weapons for Ukraine worth several hundred million euros.
Germany will also finance the purchase of Ukrainian-made medical equipment. It has also pledged to support investment in the Ukrainian defense industry and encourage others to do the same – particularly in the field of air defense.
According to available information, Germany will cease publishing the specifications of the weapons supplied to Ukraine with immediate effect. This information is now classified.
