Czech Republic has Rheinmetall with the maintenance of the Leopard 2 main battle tank and the 3 Büffel armored recovery vehicle, a contract worth up to 250 million euros.
According to Rheinmetall, the contract has a term of seven years. It includes various services and goods to maintain the 42 Leopard 2A4s and two Bergepanzer 3 Büffel armored recovery vehicles.
The services include the initial and follow-up supply of spare parts, customer service support, plant and component repairs, training services, technical and logistical support, the provision of interim infrastructure and the corresponding project management.
According to a recent press release, Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH intends to cooperate with Czech industry in the fulfillment of the contract and to subcontract accordingly. The focus will be on repair and maintenance support, including the necessary transfer of know-how. To this end, a letter of intent was signed with the Czech state-owned company VOP CZ s.p. in the presence of representatives from the Czech Ministry of Defense.
The Czech armed forces will receive under various contracts a total of 42 Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks and two Büffel armored recovery vehicles. Rheinmetall had overhauled and delivered some of these for the Czech armed forces on behalf of the German government and others on behalf of the Czech government.
