Over the past few days, the soldiers of the “Melker Pioniere” engineer construction company, which is present in the squad, took part in the combat service performance competition. This serves to test the combat tasks according to measurable criteria. The aim of the competition was to record and implement the engineering tasks under constant physical stress.

40 kilometer march
“The pioneers have the opportunity to earn the coveted combat service performance badge ‘Pioneer Service’. To achieve this, the participants have to complete a march of around 40 kilometers and master up to twelve stations,” says Lieutenant Jakob M., the head of the competition.

The officer goes on to explain: “At the stations, the barrage, mine, surveying and blasting services, among others, are tested. In addition, the calculation and loading of a bridge, a test of courage and the water navigation service are assessed.
