Saab has signed a contract with Damen Naval for the Colombian Navy. The order includes the 9LV Combat Management System and the 9LV Fire Control System, the Ceros 200 radar, the optronic Tracking Fire Control Director, the EOS 500 electro-optical Fire Control Director, the Sea Giraffe 4A radar and other systems for the Colombian Navy’s new Plataforma Estratégica de Superficie (PES) frigate program.
“The PES program is cutting-edge, and we are honored that the Colombian Navy has selected Saab as the supplier of its combat system. Our partnership with Damen Naval represents an important collaboration in the naval field. This is the first time we have worked together,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, Senior Vice President and Head of Saab’s Surveillance business area.
The Colombian Navy’s new frigate will be built by the Colombian shipyard Cotecmar in Cartagena. Damen Naval will supply the engineering, technical support and shipbuilding materials. The design for the Plataforma Estratégica de Superficie is based on Damen Naval’s Sigma 10514 series. According to current plans, the frigate will be delivered in 2030.
