Today, 150 conscripts of the Panzergrenadierbataillon 13 from Ried and the Upper Austrian Military Command from Hörsching were ceremonially sworn in at the Rieder Zehner-Kaserne.
“Recruits, you are joining up at a time when you will also be required to make a direct and active contribution to the protection of the Republic of Austria. Some of you will also be deployed for three months from the end of September on an assistance mission at the national border – I wish you every success!” said the commander of the 4th Armored Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel of the General Staff Service, Stefan Fuchs MA. Representing the Governor, Member of the Provincial Parliament Alfred Frauscher encouraged the recruits: “The next few months will shape them, and later they will be proud of it.” At the highlight of the ceremony, the pledge of allegiance, the recruits

– The soldiers, representing all of them, raised their hands to the standard of the 4th Armored Infantry Brigade. “… to serve!” resounded loudly across the barracks yard at the end. Numerous visitors took advantage of the weapons and equipment display during the Open Day to get to know the equipment of Panzergrenadier Battalion 13. The ceremony ended with the “Great Austrian Tattoo”, played by the guard music.
