After several swearing-in ceremonies in barracks, the ceremony for the new recruits was once again held in public. 160 soldiers from Reconnaissance and Artillery Battalion 4 and 30 soldiers from the Allentsteig military training area were ceremonially sworn in on the main square in the garrison town of Allentsteig.
The 190 recruits were presented with their diplomas in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and the newly appointed Chief of the General Staff, General Rudolf Striedingertook their oath of allegiance. During her speech, the Minister informed the recruits that an increase in pay is expected to take place at the beginning of next year. A decision has already been made by the Council of Ministers. It is now up to the National Council to pass this increase into law, said Tanner.

Ludwig Schleritzko, Member of the Provincial Council, conveyed the Governor’s greetings. He welcomed the Minister to his home region and thanked her for her negotiating skills in drawing up the budget. The musicians of the Military Music of Lower Austria provided the festive backdrop. The ceremony ended at dusk with the playing of the Grand Austrian Tattoo.
