Swearing-in ceremony for Engineer Battalion 2 in the Schwarzenberg barracks: 94 recruits from the January 2021 enlistment date of the engineer company (mountain mobile) took part. Due to the measures currently imposed by the federal government, the swearing-in ceremony had to be held in private and in the barracks.

With the words “I pledge”, the soldiers in the Schwarzenberg barracks recited their pledge of allegiance to the Republic of Austria. The pledge of allegiance of the recruits echoed loudly across the Pioneer Battalion 2’s assembly area and was an impressive testimony to their willingness to take on civic responsibility.

94 soldiers lined up for the swearing-in ceremony.

The spiritual part of the ceremony was conducted by the Catholic military priest Richard Weyringer and the Protestant military pastor Oliver Gross, who emphasized the cohesion and camaraderie of basic military service in their speeches. After their basic training, the recruits will continue their military service with Engineer Battalion 2. Trained as construction pioneers and disaster relief workers, they will be available for possible deployments in Salzburg and throughout western Austria during the spring and summer.
