At Jäger Battalion 18 in St. Michael, Cadre Candidate Training 2 in the “Jäger” weapon category began at the start of February. In the first few weeks, the program included a physical performance test, the so-called “military-specific test”, equipment training on the 66/79 anti-tank barrel and live firing with an assault rifle and pistol. Training on the super-heavy machine gun has also begun. The participants in the cadre candidate training still have a full program ahead of them.

Jäger Battalion 18 is stationed in the St. Michael garrison in Upper Styria and is part of the 7th Jäger Brigade. This is the only “light” brigade in the Austrian Armed Forces. Its soldiers carry out their missions both at home and abroad to protect the population.
