If Inspector General Carsten Breuer has his way, then the Bundeswehr should press ahead with the introduction of so-called kamikaze drones. “We want to start firing loitering ammunition in the troops this year,” Breuer told the German Press Agency.

In response to the ongoing drone war in Ukraine (-> current news from the Ukraine war) only a few days ago made public its procurement plans for loitering ammunition to the public. According to media reports, systems from at least two suppliers will initially be procured for test purposes. A decision on large-scale procurement will then be made on the basis of the feedback.

Breuer: “The procurement closes a gap in the capabilities of the German armed forces. The deployment will give the Bundeswehr back the flexibility that is crucial in a battle. We are therefore focusing on maximum acceleration here because we have to, given the threat situation.”

“Unmanned weapons systems and loitering munitions will be deployed across the board in the army, air force and navy in the coming years. They are an indispensable addition to our capabilities,” continued Breuer.

You can apparently choose from systems from the following companies Helsing and Stark.
