The Bundeswehr is acquiring a new and modern simulator as part of the aptitude test for the Bundeswehr’s aviation service and flight management service. This simulator is intended to support the aptitude testing of prospective pilots. The Bundeswehr Procurement Office has concluded a contract for this, which provides for the delivery of the first system as early as next year.

As part of the selection process, candidates must complete a series of different flight tasks on the simulator in a flight psychology learning and work test to prove their basic aptitude. In addition to basic flight tasks, realistic scenarios are also to be mastered. By using simulation-based test procedures, this is done independently of the flight region, time of day, weather or other external influences and is also cost-efficient. https://militaeraktuell.at/northrops-super-bomber-b-21-raider-fliegt-erstmals/ The contract includes the delivery of simulated cockpits of a fixed-wing aircraft, various consoles, equipment for the preparation and post-processing of the various parts of the procedure and the necessary software and its installation. The system will be commissioned at the German Aerospace Center’s site in Cologne. Additional simulators will be procured for the Cologne site over the next few years to renew the systems for suitability testing. These will then replace existing systems that were previously distributed between the Cologne, Bückeburg and Fürstenfeldbruck sites. Delivery of the last simulator is scheduled for the end of 2025.
