On July 11, the Naval Special Forces Command of the German Armed Forces celebrated its 60th anniversary with a ceremonial roll call and a dynamic presentation in the presence of the President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament, Kristina Herbst, the Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein, Daniel Günther, and numerous guests from society, politics and the military.
Since 2014, the combat swimmers have been the core of the Navy’s Special Forces Command (KSM). The unit was founded on April 1, 1964, with the establishment of an independent company in Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein. The Bundeswehr’s oldest special forces unit is deployed for operations and missions at sea, from the air and on land. https://militaeraktuell.at/bundesheer-25-jahre-kfor-einsatz/
“I am looking forward to spending the next few days with the men and women of the KSM and, above all, their families. The KSM forces were and are often absent for long periods, with only short warning times. These days we would like to celebrate this anniversary together and give the members some recognition that they and especially their families deserve,” said the commander of the KSM, frigate captain Sebastian Schuldt. A press statement by Prime Minister Daniel Günther is planned after the appeal. The Minister President will also be available to answer questions from the media. This will be followed by a varied demonstration (“Dynamic Display”), in which the versatile capabilities of the special forces from Eckernförde will be presented.
