Last week, soldiers from the pioneer combat support company of the “Melker Pioniere” erected an almost 35-meter-long replacement bridge on Münchendorferstraße in the Traiskirchen district.
“As a result of the floods in September, the existing bridge was damaged and closed. In order to be able to continue to reach the Stadtrandsiedlung district, we were commissioned to build a state-owned replacement bridge,” says the bridge officer, staff sergeant Manuel K. https://militaeraktuell.at/raf-verkauft-gebrauchte-juliet-hercules-an-die-tuerkei/ Due to the technical pioneering conditions and the load-bearing requirements, the command of Pioneer Battalion 3 decided to build the bridge as a single-storey, single-walled reinforced structure and to launch, lower and cover it using a crane. The battalion, better known to the local population as the “Melk Pioneers”, can look back on a history of over 110 years, steeped in tradition throughout the Danube region. The unit is one of the strongest, most efficient and most successful military units in the Austrian Armed Forces.
