A new challenge for Brigadier Reinhard Kraft: The former commander of the Air Force and Air Defence School moved to the Ministry of Defense in Rossau, Vienna, on 1 October and is now in the Communications Directorate.

Brigadier Reinhard Kraft comes from Mistelbach and was commissioned in 2003 as a member of the “Reichsgraf Hadik” class. In December of the same year, he took over as commander of the Steinmandl fixed radar station. From 2010 to 2013, he completed the 19th General Staff Training and then took on several roles at the Armed Forces Command in Salzburg.

At the beginning of 2015, Kraft moved to the Air Force and Air Defense Troop School as deputy commander and chief of staff. He took over command there in August 2018, having previously been in charge following the retirement of his predecessor Brigadier Günter Schiefert. Since 1 January 2022, Kraft has also been the barracks and garrison commander of the Leopold Figl Air Base – General Pabisch Air Base (until May 2024 Brumowski Air Base) in Langenlebarn. Deployments abroad took him to Bosnia-Herzegovina (EUFOR) in 2006 and Afghanistan (RSM) in 2016.

With the move to the Ministry of Defense, Kraft now works directly for Director Herbert Kullnig. The task is “appealing, exciting and challenging”, as he explains to Militär Aktuell. “After almost seven years in Langenlebarn, it was time for something new – even though I really enjoyed my job there and can look back with great pride on what I achieved with the unbeatable team at the Air Force and Air Defense Troop School.”
