Brigadier Philipp Ségur-Cabanac is the new Commandant of the Theresian Military Academy. He succeeds Major General Karl Pronhagl, who has held this position since 2016.

“With Brigadier Philipp Ségur-Cabanac, an experienced, strategically-minded and highly respected officer is taking over the leadership of the military academy. His expertise in military leadership training and his broad international experience make him the ideal candidate for this key position. I wish him every success in this task and look forward to working with him,” emphasizes Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner.

Brigadier Ségur-Cabanac has many years of experience in command, staff and foreign missions. He has held various positions of responsibility in the Austrian Armed Forces, including as commander of the hunting commandmilitary strategic planning, leadership training and international missions. His military career has been characterized by a consistent focus on training and further education, strategic leadership and personnel development. In addition to his military qualifications, he has completed several international courses and leadership programs. Brigadier Ségur-Cabanac is married and has four children.

The Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt is the oldest existing military academy in the world and has been training officers for the Austrian Armed Forces since 1752. It stands for modern, practical officer training that combines military expertise, leadership skills and academic foundations. The Military Academy trains officers in the “Military Leadership” and “Military Information & Communication Technology Leadership” bachelor’s degree courses.
