The US Navy has Boeing a contract worth 3.1 billion euros to begin production of 14 P-8A Poseidon aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force and three additional P-8s for the German Navy. The aircraft were sold to the respective countries as part of a government-to-government sale; in Germany, ESG Elektroniksystem-und Logistik-GmbH and Lufthansa Technik are among the cooperation partners.

After the initial procurement of five P-8 aircraft in June 2021, Germany is now Germany is now procuring three more aircraft. The first of these is due to be delivered in 2025 to replace the country’s P-3 Orion fleet. In November 2023, Canada also announced its decision to procure the P-8A Poseidon to replace its current fleet of CP-140 Auroras. While in Canada these are GE Aviation Canada, Honeywell Aerospace Canada and Raytheon Canada, in Germany partnerships have been entered into with ESG Elektroniksystem-und Logistik-GmbH and Lufthansa Technik. Last year, Boeing and CAE signed teaming agreements to expand cooperation on multi-mission platforms in Canada, Germany and Norway.
