The three Benelux countries Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg have decided to pool their military transport capacities. Aircraft, trains, ships and trucks are used jointly as part of this agreement. The Movement Coordination Centre Europe (MCCE) is responsible for coordinating the transportation forces.
The countries signed the cooperation agreement on December 10. By pooling transport capacities, they hope to be able to react more quickly to international crises. It is also hoped that the defense sector will be able to better support its allies.
More choice and central control
The shared use of transport capacities offers several advantages. One of these is greater flexibility, as a larger selection of means of transportation is available. For example, the Netherlands can access the Belgian Airbus A400M transport aircraft (

) and Belgium, in turn, can more easily use trains and ships coordinated by the Netherlands (

As mentioned at the beginning, the Movement Coordination Centre Europe (MCCE), which is located at Eindhoven Air Base, is responsible for coordinating the joint use of resources.
