Austrian Armed Forces: “Schools Day” at the Schwarzenberg barracks

Around 1,000 pupils took the opportunity to experience the Austrian Armed Forces at the “Day of Schools” in the Schwarzenberg barracks in Salzburg.

Units such as Pioneer Battalion 2, Jäger Battalion 8, the Western Medical Center, the 3rd Company of the Military Police, the Radar Battalion, the Command Support Battalionn 2 and the Army Logistics Center presented themselves at numerous stations. The young people were not only able to marvel at the equipment and vehicles, but also talk to soldiers and take a look behind the scenes.

Musical highlights were provided by the Salzburg Military Band under the direction of Major Johann Schernthanner. The topic of careers was not neglected either: representatives from the Army Personnel Office provided information about training paths, civilian and military professions and future prospects in the armed forces. Finally, there was a tasting from the troop kitchen.
