At the end of April, the partners of the “Network for Disaster Response in Upper Austria” met for a workshop at the Upper Austrian Military Command at Vogler Air Base in Hörsching.
At the beginning, the deputy military commander, Colonel Johann Hehenberger, informed the partners about the migration situation and current topics of the military command. The main topic was information about blackouts, precautionary measures and the cooperation of the network in the event of a major power grid failure.
The “Network for Disaster Response in Upper Austria” already proved its worth during the 2013 floods. The network partners are Raiffeisenlandesbank, UNIQA Versicherung, Habau, Strabag, Swietelsky, Felbermayr and Pappas – Mercedes. The aim of the network is to provide joint disaster relief in the federal state. In the event of a Federal Armed Forces assistance mission, the Upper Austrian Military Command manages and coordinates additional equipment and personnel from the network partners. The services are provided free of charge to cover bottlenecks in favor of rapid and unbureaucratic assistance for the population.
