The training company of the air force and air defense school of the Armed Forces recently completed a live firing course with the participants of Cadre Candidate Training 1 at the Ramsau/Molln firing range. 55 cadre candidates shot with the assault rifle 77, the pistol 80 and the machine gun 74. The main focus was on the application of the combat skills learned in individual, squad and group combat shooting.
Hand grenade throwing and shooting at night
Highlights of the training included hand grenade throwing and the detonation of a fragmentation charge during group combat shooting, as well as participation in air-to-ground shooting with a PC-7 and group combat shooting at night – with the use of extensive military pyrotechnics by the company’s professional soldiers.

Training officer Major S. commented on the purpose of the exercise: “Learning and consolidating basic military skills is essential for successful mission accomplishment. Deployments to military training areas offer optimal and, above all, realistic conditions, taking into account the weather, terrain, daylight and seasons.”
The Air Force and Air Defence School is responsible for the specialized training of all officers, non-commissioned officers and civilian employees of the Air Force units, as well as for the relevant specialist groundwork.
