After nine days, the Salzburg Military Command ended the assistance mission in Pinzgau and Pongau. Soldiers from the Wallner barracks in Saalfelden and the Krobatin barracks in St. Johann im Pongau supported the deployed forces in Thumersbach, Bruck, Mittersill and Bad Hofgastein.

In Bruck, houses were cleared of mud.

The soldiers’ tasks included clearing watercourses to prevent further flooding, removing debris and mud from houses and securing slopes to prevent further damage. The soldiers deployed contributed 4,250 man hours. The cooperation between all the helpers was very good. “The armed forces worked together with the civilian emergency services with great dedication and commitment to eliminate the consequences of the damage. By joining forces, it was possible to restore order to everyday life for the people in the affected regions. I am proud of this achievement and would like to express my highest appreciation to my soldiers,” said Salzburg’s military commander, Brigadier Anton Waldner.
